Easy Wireless Connect Setup For Android - Canon PIXMA TR4720

Learn how to use use the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app to set up your.PIXMA TR4720 on a wireless network (LAN).

Solution


1. Start the setup process on your printer

    1. Make sure the printer is turned ON.


    1. Press and hold the Menu / Wireless connect button for 3 seconds.

  1. When the following screen displays, printer preparation is complete.

2. Download Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY app for Android

    1. Start the Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY app. If you don't have the app, download it from Google Play.


    1. Upon opening the app for the first time, you'll see the following screen. Tap OK.

      Note If the screen doesn't appear, skip to Step 5.

      Permissions screen, select OK to continue.


    1. When asked to allow the app to access your device's photos, media, files, and location, tap Allow..

      App Info screen, tap permissions.


    1. When the screen below appears, tap Yes.

      Do you want to search for available printers? Tap Yes to continue.

      Note If you are asked to add the printer via Bluetooth, tap No.


    1. You will be prompted to set up Wi-Fi® for the printer. You will see a name beginning with Canon_ij. Tap OK on this screen.

      Note Depending on the model, it may be named Canon_ij_setup or it may have the name of the printer, such as Canon_ij_053xx_MG6800series.

      Set up for Wi-Fi on the following printer.... Select OK to continue.


    1. A message appears saying the printer will connect to your wireless network. Make sure your network name appears in this message, then tap Yes.

      Note If your printer is too far away from your router, your Android device may try and fail to connect and you won't see the screen shown below. In this case, turn off the printer, move it closer to your router, and restart the process.

      Confirmation message: The printer will be connected to the following wireless router.. Select Yes to continue.


    1. Enter the password for your wireless router. Tap the eye symbol to check the password entry to be sure it's correct, then tap OK.

      Note If the cableless setup process fails at this stage, you may need to restart the process and connect your Android device to the Canon_ij_XXXX SSID. Set your printer to cableless setup mode, connect to the Canon_ij_XXXX SSID, and start again from step 1.

      Enter password screen. Tap OK when network password has been entered.


    1. In a moment, you will see a message confirming that the network settings have been sent to the printer. Tap OK.

      Network settings have been sent to the printer. Tap OK.


    1. You are asked again if you want to search for available printers. Tap Yes.

      Do you want to search for available printers? Tap Yes to continue.


    1. Wireless connection is complete. Tap Select images to start using the application or tap Cancel to exit.

How to Rename the Printer (Optional)

    1. On the main screen, tap the printer's icon.

    1. Press and hold the printer name. You will see an option to enter a name for the printer.

      Press and hold the printer name.
       

    1. Enter a name and tap OK.

      Enter a name, then tap OK.
       

  1. The printer displays the new name.
